Introducing A Brand New Theme For RapidWeaver ... Opaque
May 18 2009 03:36 PM
We are very glad to be releasing to the public an all
new theme for RapidWeaver and a proud new member to
the RWT library of themes.
The Opaque theme comes loaded with cool features ... some of which have never been done with a RapidWeaver theme.
Here are just a few of things that you will find in the Opaque Theme:
One directly underneath the content and that keeps the width of the content. This EC container is perfect for those pages that do not have a place for you to insert content underneath the main part of the page (Pages like Kwix, File Sharing, Contact, and others)
The second EC area is located underneath the content area but stretches the entire width of the page (not just the content area). This is really useful on any number of pages to create those large footer areas that are very popular these days.
All of the code is already pre-installed into the theme and all you will need to do is create a RapidSearch page for your project and publish your site.
(* Instructions for setting up a RapidSearch are included in the download of the theme)

Here are just a few of things that you will find in the Opaque Theme:
Extra Content:
Since it was first introduced into the RapidWeaver theme community users have made it clear that they want EC. The Opaque theme does include 2 EC containers. One directly underneath the content and that keeps the width of the content. RapidSearch Search Box
The Opaque theme includes a pre-installed search box that can be neatly positioned in the header area. All of the code is already pre-installed into the theme and all you will need to do is create a RapidSearch page for your project and publish your site.

Translucent Navigation Buttons
The Opaque theme includes the ability to have a translucent navigation buttons. This is accomplished by using css instead of images making it possible for IE6 users to enjoy the translucence. You can set the level of opacity for the navigation buttons from 10% - 100%Neatly Organized Colour Options
The Opaque theme follows the new standard in organizing the colour picker options. Before the colour picker options would all be located at the bottom of the Page Inspector's Variations menu, but with the release of the "Fresh" theme we have begun placing the colour picker options inside the related variations. This new way of organizing the colour picker options saves the user a lot of time and frustration.Logo Positioning
The Opaque theme allows you to set your logo on the Left or Right side on a "per-page" basis. You even have the ability to show/hide the logo on a "per-page" basis. This allows full control over the logo area of the theme.Much More
The Opaque theme includes everything you have come to expect from a RWT theme plus more. Please take some time to navigate through this DEMO site to get a feel for how the Opaque theme will operate. I have taken the time to create demo pages for the most popular page styles for RapidWeaver.

New Theme Will Have A Cool Extra Feature
May 12 2009 07:06 AM Filed in: New Theme
It has taken us a little longer than we anticipated
to wrap up our next theme for RapidWeaver. As it was
nearing completion I decided that it would be neat if
I could find a way to incorporate a RapidSearch search box
into the theme and eliminate the need of using a
Snippet. Well, it took us a little while to find
the proper way to do this but we finally found a
good way and have implemented into the theme.
All a user will have to do is create a RapidSearch page and follow 2 simple instructions and they will have a handy search box powered by RapidSearch with the ability to show or hide the search box on a "per page" basis.
This theme should be wrapped up in the next couple of days and released to the public shortly thereafter.

RapidSearch Search Box Snippet

| RapidSearch
I am sure that you have already seen the really cool
search page for RapidWeaver called RapidSearch. However, if
your like me then you would like for there to be
an easy way to have a search box on your home page
... maybe in the header area or in the sidebar,
but you want the search results to display on your
RapidSearch page. So a while back
I contacted Josh Lockhart to ask if
this could be done using RapidSearch. He was kind
enough to create a little snippet to make this
possible.
This download includes 2 snippets:
- One snippet includes the Search Box snippet that actually creates the search box
- The other is a css snippet that will remove the border around the search box in some themes
NOTE: This snippet is intended to work with RapidSearch and will not work properly without it. You should create a RapidSearch page and then publish your site. Then you will need to copy the url of your RapidSearch page to use with the Snippet.

H3 & H4 Snippets Now Available As A Seperate Download
When the H3 theme was released it came with a set of
snippets that really helped to make things easier for
the user. Then when we released the H4 theme we meant
to include the snippet for H3 but somehow we forgot
to add them to the download. This was quickly pointed
out to us and corrected, however I am still getting
e-mail requests for the snippets so I have decided to
add them to the website as a separate download.
The snippets that come in this download include:
You can download the snippets by visiting our "Snippets" page or by clicking the button below:
After you download the file you will need to unzip the file and then double click on the snippets to install into the RapidWeaver snippet library. Then you MUST completely close out of and restart RapidWeaver before the snippets can be used.
The snippets that come in this download include:
- Right Sidebar Content - This snippets will make it a lot easier for you to add content to the right sidebars in either of the H3 or H4 themes
- Sidebar Box - This snippet will create a neat and useful box in your sidebar. You can use this to have certain content be set apart from other content
- Box of Links - This snippet will create a sidebar box with a list of links. You can edit the snippet to include the links that you want.

The Hunt Is On ...

RWT is interested in hiring someone either on a
"part-time" basis or on a "per project" basis.
Over the last few years we have branched out into other "niche" markets including plugins, Sandvox Designs, and software as well as keeping up with regular theme development. We are also looking to begin an iPhone project soon and are looking for someone who could help beautify our already existing products by creating some really nice demo sites for each of them.
We are also interested in having someone create some really nice theme styles for upcoming themes.
If you think that you would be interested in such an endeavor then please continue ....
The only qualifications are:
- You need to be a passionate user of RapidWeaver and familiar with all of the main plugins and pagestyles
- A good sense of popular web trends and color schemes is helpful
- Some basic understanding of HTML and CSS is helpful but not necessary
Still interested? ... Then fill out the brief form below
